NWS MEMBER EXHIBITION
The Member Show, an online exhibition, is open to all current Associate and Signature members. Entry for this exhibition opens the first of January. The exhibition typically runs from May 1st to June 30 each year. Exhibition has one highly qualified Juror. Cash Prizes of $10,000 are awarded and named to honor NWS Past Presidents. One ScholARTship is also selected. This exhibition does not count toward NWS Signature.
NWS INTERNATIONAL OPEN EXHIBITION
The NWS International Open Exhibition stands as the Premier Global event celebrating the latest innovations in watermedia art. This prestigious event invites both emerging and established artists from around the world to present their most inventive and original work. Every fall, it provides a stage for emerging and established artists to present their innovative works. Artists from around the globe submit their finest, never-before-seen paintings, created specifically for this prestigious exhibition. Currently, entry for this exhibition opens April 1st of each year and artists submit their finest, never-before-seen paintings created specifically for this highly anticipated exhibition, which is held in the fall.
Open to all current members and non-members, this exhibition is juried by three highly qualified jurors plus one specially chosen Awards Juror. The juried show includes over $40,000 in cash and merchandise
The International Open Exhibition is open to all current members as well as non-members. This Exhibition is juried by three highly qualified jurors plus one specially chosen Awards Juror.
The exhibition includes over $40,000 in cash and merchandise awards and three (3) ScholARTship Awards. Additionally, accepted artists are invited to submit additional samples of their work for evaluation and acceptance into NWS as a Signature member.

From time to time NWS holds special exhibitions at the gallery such as the recent Permanent Collection Exhibition.

Curated Invitational and/or Juried International Exchanges.
THE ScholARTship AWARD
Established in 2020, the NWS ScholARTship Award may be given as part of the Member Exhibition and International Open Exhibition. NWS ScholARTship awards may take the form of a critique, a portfolio review, or a mentorship that has been donated by a Master Artist from the watercolor community. The exhibition juror selects a participating artist (that did not receive any other award) for a ScholARTship with the donating watercolor professional. This is made possible via electronic communication: Face-time, Video, Chat, Skype, Zoom or Email.
The ScholARTship award is open to all artists accepted into the NWS Member Exhibition or International Open Exhibition who indicate a willingness to be considered for a ScholARTship award on their acceptance forms.
The National Watercolor Society is a 501c(3) nonprofit and supports artists with exhibitions and education. The ScholARTship helps to fulfill the NWS promotion of education for artists in the watermedia community. The NWS ScholARTship program is overseen by the Education Director.
